Baby Rattlesnake
Adapted by Lynn Moroney
Written by Te Ata
Illustrated by Mira Reisburg
Ages: 4  - 6
Grade Level: PS – 3

Full disclosure: I haven’t read this book, but it’s on order, and it’s finally on its way. Why buy this book? I took a class from Mira, and she critiqued my writing. I love buying books from my mentors. Plus, Baby Rattlesnake is one of Mira’s most popular books, and the kids I meet subbing will love it!

The story…Baby Rattlesnake wants a rattle like his siblings, but his parents say he’s too young. Baby throws a tantrum, and his parents give in. But…it’s the wrong choice…because Baby uses his rattle to scare the animals he meets until…he picks the wrong creature. This story is adapted from a Chickasaw Indian tale. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Whenever I read or write, I find a comfy chair with a great view.  I get my favorite drink, stretch out, and let the words take me away.
